Since I just have the LT trim and no foglights. I'm throwing around the idea of having a CIA intake down where the passanger foglight shroud is. Removing it ofcourse. Good idea?

The central intelligence agency just gives away intakes? No wonder the budget is out of control.
But seriously, a cold air intake through the foglight could be nifty. I think a couple membrs have already tried it. Maybe check out their results?

Ahhh I see... but not entirely what I was thinking... how about a zzp that had a cone filter and a few selected holes in the intake to break suction for water. Not to be confused with a mod to the existing stock air box.

A cold air intake using stock box and a K&n drop in would be cool. only down side is Missing all the turbo noise like you get from an open filter like Injen or zzp. I think the cold air one could be done WAY better than the ones who've done it so far and posted pics. Make one that funnels into 3" PVC out of fiberglass that uses the whole black fog insert, not just cutting a round hole in the big piece... take out the big piece and funnel it to a round pipe. Serious ram air with a little bit of water injection.. lol

Being a Turbo car, putting a true intake on this car would not do much more performance than a short ram. Turbo sucking in hot air anyways. Just my $.02. It would be interesting to see it done though.

My concern is with zzp that there isnt a heat shield. People are reporting 40-60° above ambient(give or take) and with injen the piping comes across the motor. I understand that the turbo does get warm but reports are showing temperature increase of only a few degrees above ambient with the modified airbox ram air. I do agree that the ram air intake will not give much if anymore power or what ever because its feeding a turbo. Im looking for better temperatures.

you could always wrap your intake and see if that helps

this sir is totally wrong,
MAF sensor read in what hot/cold air is coming in and adjust air/fuel ratios.

and the turbo is basically a giant furnace, blasting any incoming air into the stupid hot range.

I'm kind of a google master, it's a gift, but I feel that adding a cold air intake on a turbo car is a negligible performance gain. The turbo pressurizes the air, causing it to be denser, and blasts it into the engine. A cold air intake brings cold air into the engine. Cold air is denser, as we both know. The turbo is going to compress the air way more than the air just being cold, so I don't feel it's a necessary addition to my engine. Just my opinion; you're welcome to mod your engine all you want.

I am talking about short ram vs cold air intake. Idk everybody has there own belief. Even if the cai makes 5 HP more its not going to be noticeable. I am all for making more power and if i am wrong on this issue Im OK with that. I would be interested in seeing a company make a high quality true cold air intake and see how the stock air box vs a short ram would compare.
