1: I picked up a new engine cover from the dealer for a whopping 13 dollars. You dont have to get a new one if you are comfortable with painting.
2: picked up and can of flat black engine enamel and some sanding pads from the hardware store for 7 dollars.
3. scuffed the cover good enough for the new paint to stick.

4. spay the cover with about 4 or 5 light coats giving it 10 minutes to dry between coats.

5.This paint dries to touch in 10 minutes. Let dry for at least 12 hours before installing on the engine. Full cure takes 72 hours
6.Poof! Debadged engine!

I plan on ordering a custom vinyl sticker that says 1.4L Turbo instead of Echotec. This opens up a lot of creative opportunities for other people. If you don't like the outcome you can always put the old one back on.
