Rough idle at first stoplight

For the past couple of days, my 2017 chevy sonic 49k miles has been idling rough and jerks while in drive at a red light. After the car has warmed up it returns to normal and does not idle rough or jerks at all even after turning it off and turning it on again does anyone know what might be causing this problem thanks again!

Possible PCV Valve?

Hi,

I have a 2012 LT with 120k now and started to have similar problems

I replaced my plugs at 101k but this started a while after.
Mine comes after warmup instead of when cold.

I’m suspecting a PCV fable (in the valve cover) at this point. I also bout a new coil pack but don’t want to install it unless I have to.

From reading other forums it maybe the PVC but it’s kicking no codes.
I have the 1.8l engine
My wife has the 1.4l in her Cruze and it kicked a code and we replaced it.

Hoping to connect a scanner to see real-time if i5s a voltage drop (coil) or something else.

I heard it could be battery cell but the surge is timed every 6 seconds once warm.

Scan it at an auto shop. Make sure your battery is good. I would think your issue would be with your heated 02 sensor, the downstream one. It may be dirty or bad. With a little elbow grease you can pull them off, clean them and than if necessary you can replace them. I am thinking O2 sensor not getting heated fast enough and causes it to not read the air/gas mixture correctly. If the problem goes away once at operating temp than I would start with O2. Also get some mass air flow sensor cleaner and clean your MAF per instructions on can. Hopefully that helps. I dealt with all this crap a few times on mine

You can check PCV on valve cover simply by placing finger on hole while running. If air is coming out than it’s bad. If you don’t overfill gas when filling up it’s most likely not pcv. Isaythis cause I dealt with it many times. If it is you PCV you would be getting about 20 mpg and it would be running very rough. Start with O2 sensors. Clean and replace if needed. Check connections. Clean MAF sensor. Clean throttle body (I used sea foam). It worked well.

Many people have this issue with the Chevy Sonic and it is resolved by replacing the ignition coil pack. Price for OEM ACDelco on Amazon is around $150. Ten minute repair. This issue occurred on my vehicle and was completely resolved by changing the coil pack.
