Short-term garage rental.

I bought my Sonic a little over a week ago. Just a couple hours ago the news blew up that massive storms producing hail, high winds, etc were on their way. :blankface:

I don't have a garage. So I thought, what would be the next best option?

Car wash stalls, and bank drive-thru's are too exposed for my tastes during a good old-fashioned St. Louis storm...but suddenly... AN IDEA! There's a parking garage downtown, that gives you free CONCRETE FREAKING GARAGE parking if you make a purchase in the store downstairs!

So as I sit here, smiling out the window upon my hail-damage-free Sonic, I am enjoying a Charleston Chew and some grape soda. And let me tell you, it was a storm worth watching.

It amazes me that people with garages will park a $30K vehicle outside while $50 of junk is sitting in the garage.

I use my garage as a garage not a storage shed. It amazes me driving by peoples houses with their garages open and they have a two car garage with a maze from the garage door to the house door. Using a parking garage is a pretty good idea if you don't have a garage or you're out on the road.

Yeah, I'll never understand it but I guess they might have better insurance than I do!

I am foreseeing a lot of trips to that garage in the future. Thankfully it isn't very far away, and a few bucks worth of groceries (or a few bucks' worth of parking time) is cheaper than my deductible.

That's some hail that was collected a little ways NW of here on Friday.

That is some serious a$$ hail. I have, however, been parking my cars outdoors nearly all my life, and never had any hail damage nor seen any on any of my friend's cars. Could be regional thing, or just plain luck, but I don't see a garage as much of a priority.

Meanwhile, I converted the garage on my property into a swordmaking workshop and use it to turn $ worth of steel into $$ worth of weapons every day. Put a car in there when there's perfectly good space on the street? Sounds crazy to me.

I will have to look into nearby "emergency car shelter" spaces though now that I've seen those tangerines you're calling hail. That can NOT be good!

I just closed on my first house this week.. First thing I did was tear out the unnecessary work bench/cabinet on the side of the garage.. There's already a nice workbench in the back of the garage. So now I can fit both cars in there.. Don't have to worry about hail in AZ but sun damage is a big one I suppose!
