I wanted to do a burnout the other day just to stop my curiosity from killin me and even with traction control and stabil trak off it still was nothing to write home about !! Why won't my car burn rubber ? I saw on here that some guys pull the abs fuse before they drag, will that help ?

Dam stupid ABS. Same with airbags...they are for *******. You should pull all the airbag fuses while you're at it. They are crutches for ******* who can't handle mashing the steering wheel with their face.

The stabili-track will limit power if you spin the inside wheel during (or out of) a turn. Since the Sonic doesn't have a mechanical limited slip differential this happens often during said "drives like I stole it". I have also found it to interfere with kamikaze shifts into to 2nd at wide open throttle (where one wheel tends to spin for a bit).
I used to hate ABS a much as CoHPhasor until it saved my ass in the snow once. It allowed me to aim the vehicle away from a truck while I was sliding down an off ramp (admittedly on the wrong kind of tires). That said... I see very little use for it in the summer months.

It pulses the brakes automatically at individual wheels to retain steering control during a slide. A side effect of this pulsing is that it actually extends stopping distance.
The real problem with the system is the manner in which it is triggered. Since the car can't tell the difference between the beginning of a big or small slide, it is programmed to respond in milliseconds with full effect. So it will react as if you are sliding on ice when you are simply braking over top of a wet manhole cover or a small patch of gravel... needlessly increasing stopping distance and suprising any driver who already compensated for the risk of a small slide.

Early systems would just pump for you, today's multi-channel systems can pulse each one individually and stabilitrak will actually add more breaking force to the gripping wheel and also take steering input and direction into account and pulse the breaks to best tumble you where you aim.
Some are 3 channel (2 front, 1 rear) some are 4 channel (each wheel). As far as the sonic goes, I'm not sure which it is, the economic side says 3 because the rear end is so light, but the standardization (cheap 1 unit many cars) and butt check side of me says 4 because it certainly straightens you out in a hurry when you go sideways. Will have a look at the ABS unit and report back

I like abs in the snow and rain, but the system on this car feels as invasive as the traction control... I've probably triggered abs a dozens times under light braking because fo an expansion joint in the road or washboard sections of unmaintened road..

Do agree, and I think a wider/softer compound tire would improve this because they are pretty easy to lock up.

No, ABS seriously cause accidents, your sarcasm is not needed.
A case where it's true? Sure, I have one.
As someone from the Northeast I know how to drive in the snow, even terrible conditions and there's a very helpful technique that can help avoid serious accidents.
If it's snowy/****ty out and you find yourself in a situation where you can't steer,
you jab the breaks and turn the wheel in the direction you want to go.
It's saved my ass more times than I can count - up until I got ABS brakes, then it became useless.
The ABS literally kicks off the brakes so much it leaves you completely helpless.
The first time I experienced it I would've flipped over a hillside if someone's truck hadn't been conveniently in the way.
ABS brakes are literally designed for people who don't realize what brake fade is, how not to lock up your brakes, have no reaction time, etc ,etc.
So as to your statement, you are either naive or don't think before you speak.
ps, airbags can kill people too.
