Spyder Aftermarket Fog Lights

Hey, so as I was browsing the fog light sections and tags I never really was able to locate anything related to purchasing or installing the Spyder Fog lights.

I was wondering if anyone has done this type of mod/direction since I see everyone prefers OEM units.

I ordered a pair from amazon for $90 and any guidance or help I can get before they get here I would appreciate. They are these Amazon.com: Spyder Auto FL-CSON2012-C Fog Light: Automotive

I went to CarID and chatted with one of their product info people and they said it was "Just regular plastic" so not sure they understood my question...

Seems like that'd be a good option to upgrade the LT's without fogs. Pretty sure there' no built in factory wiring for it though (where you'd just put in a new headlight button with the foglight option and it'd work)... so it would have to have its own power button..

But a nifty on/off backlit toggle switch mounted flush in the dash would be sweet.

They do have factory plugs and when you put the new button in the dealership has to program the car

foglight button is actually part of the headlight on/off switch on LT's with fogs, and additional purchase unless you'd just do the toggle/aftermarket switch

I'd personally like to have a toggle on off but the kit says it comes with a switch but never really specified whether OEM switch or "awesome" rectangle after market switch lol

Are you talking about the black caps the cars without fog lights have?

If so the kit is supposed to replace those caps so that it comes with the bulbs/caps for the fog lights to mount and the plugs to set it up new?

I'd be skeptical about them being actual Spyder lights. I fell in love with what I saw on CarID as well, until my balloon was deflated by calling Spyder directly only to be told that they don't support the sonic.

If no authorization code is avail then aftermarket switch it is I didn't know I needed an authorization code....

Just as an update. Install came out great and better than I expected. Here are a few pics and will upload a few of the car with the fog lights on. Will say right off the bat that the lights are not as bright as regular lows but are adjustable and look like OEM

I am asking because I really don't want to pay the dealer to flash the BCM in order to hook up an original set of fog lights if possible. If I can avoid that with a set of after market ones, I may just go that route.

no install issues. Had a friend who likes wiring so installed it like OEM the difference is the bulbs are a little dim and since it's an aftermarket switch I had to wire it and turn on only when there is power running to the car charger. The hard part was running it through firewall but after a bit of cutting we slit it through it.

For the price it looks better than what I thought but will be getting brighter bulbs since it's running directly to battery.

Yeah, I ordered a set today. I think I will install HIDs in the fogs instead of the halogens that come with them since I have a few extra HID ballasts laying around. Will just be a matter of picking up some H8 HID bulbs.

So you didn't wire your set into the fuse box at all and wired it directly to the battery?

I was thinking of getting an "add a fuse" harness and tapping into something that comes on with the ignition. That way they'd shut off with the key if I forgot to turn them off. I also saw a harness on ebay that comes with a module that you hook right to the battery. No switch is needed for inside the car. The module (like a DRL) senses when the car is running and automatically turns the fogs on and off.

If you do buy a harness that works light that and goes off and on definitely let me know how it is. I want to add fog lights but haven't decided anything too particular yet but that sounds like it would be an awesome setup for it

Where did you see the harness that was the automatic on off one at?
