The Sonic Owner's Forum has agreed to sponsor the KaleidoLINKS Racing 2012 Sonic Hatch B-Spec race car!

KaleidoLINKS is a 501(c)(3) non-profit incorporated in Washington, DC working with low-income, minority, youth. The KL Racing Program specifically aims to teach math and science skills to the youth in the program through the fun and exciting laboratory of building and racing cars! The youth in the program are active in the construction of the race cars and also serve as the pit crew during competitions. Starting in 2011 KaleidoLINKS has been partnered with General Motors and in 2012 we will be racing a GM sponsored Sonic in the B-Spec series.

Unfortunately the SOF stickers didn't arrive in time for the DC Auto Show, but they arrived today and are on the car! I'd have taken a pic in the daylight, except it was snowing and raining all day.

GM is officially supporting B-spec?

Lol, ok so there are certain things I cannot talk about. I can say that GM has a great interest in promoting the Sonic, and we are supported by GM, I know that they would be very happy if we end up running the Sonic in B-Spec, especially in WC if that comes to fruition. I also know that the release of the Sonic's motorsport suspension is supposed to be any day now. I cannot comment on any other GM supported teams... So, infer from that what you will.

By the way, I suppose I should post this update: As of last week KL Racing moved into it's new shop! We've basically had 1/2 of the monthly rent donated to us on a 2,100sq ft. space that we're now working out of. It has heat and electricity so it's a million times better than our old space. We've pretty much just been running the Camaro so far this year, the sonic has really gotten off to a late start, but that has to do with suspension rules and some other things we just weren't happy about, lol and money of course, more than anything else. We should hopefully have the Sonic finished in the next month or two and our goal is to run at least 4 sprint and 1-2 enduros before 2013.

If anyone's interested, KaleidoLINKS, some folks from GM, and Brock Yates Jr. will be doing a Fox Morning Show this Monday. The link their live feed keeps changing, but it's really easy to get to from the home page: DC Breaking Local News Weather Sports FOX 5 WTTG - Home

Should be fairly cool, and some good views of work on the Camaro and Sonic.
