What do I need to do to get my recycled TCM/solenoid pack to reset including obviously renaming the vin to the ECM vin (original equipment) Placing it into a TCM reset/relearn mode?
I have a 2013 Sonic I bought new in 2014. As a rideshare driver I put well over 409K before I finally blowing the engine trying to get a rider to the airport without pulling over, as I felt the Sonic owed me NOTHING. Wasn't surprised that I all but seized the 1.8. My decision was to resurrect the drive train and other major components in the car, as many of the parts are reasonably priced.
I was able to drive the resurrected Sonic about 10K when the trans (37K recycled part) did a couple of major clunking jerks and went into failsafe. It was discussed by many of us older guys, that the TCM was most likely the issue. Before the melt down the tranny had issue with 4th gear wanting to act up. Hence I bought a TCM of eBay. Once replacing the TCM the tranny is stuck in failsafe and clunks big time going into either R or D. I bought an XTOOL D8W as the research indicated that the bi-directional scanner with the capability of implementing a reset/relearn mode. Hence, as of yet the D8W seems not capable of said task (I am hoping its operator ignorance. However, it does identify that the EBAY TCM has a separate vin code.
Thanks so much in advance to take the time to respond.
