So I decided to to start a build thread. :banana: Nothing too exciting just yet.
A buddy of mine that was car shopping with me named my car The Lorax and I decided it fits. It's orange, and fuel efficient.
Let me start with why I bought the car and what I want out of it. I work and have a 14 month old son and my wife is a stay at home mom. So given that I pay for two vehicles on one income, I needed something not too expensive with 4 doors. I also demanded that it be a manual and have at least some aspects unique to someone who likes to drive sportingly.
I have yet to go to a track but my goal is to get a 14.0 time slip or better when all is said and done.
Performance Mods done so far:
DDM Cold Air Intake with fairing
Trifecta performance tune
DDM rear brace
Eibach Pro Kit
Non performance Mods:
Rhino rack euro racks
Inno wind fairing
Rocky mounts pitchfork bicycle fork mount
Turbo snail window decal in orange to match the paint.
Performance mods planned for the future:
Full exhaust, I'm probably going to go with ZZP all the way back with a 2nd Cat delete and a muffler and resonator.
Wheels, I want something extremely light, I have the stock 15's and I want them to be lighter. I've been watching craigslist for some Kosei K1's in 17x7 (around 15lbs) and I will have them re-drilled. I'd be tempted to get Cruze ECO wheels if I found them at the right price. I think they are good looking wheels.
Wavetrac LSD, This will probably come much later if at all. It is pretty pricey but I would really like it.
Aluminum flywheel and performance clutch. This is high on my list but will take a while due to the price.
Turbo- I'm interested in the vermont tuners turbo upgrade. I had a '93 mercury capri with something similar done. I don't want tons of lag and I don't want to really mess with expensive exhaust/intake piping issues so IMO this is the best way to really get that last bit of oomph out of these cars without ruining the economy car aspect of things.
Tires - I'm considering going down on tire size to change my final drive to make it better for take offs. If I get tires before wheels I might go with 205/55/15's. I'm surprised nobody has done this yet. I think this would make a pretty big difference in the quarter. I know it would hurt highway mileage but I don't believe it would hurt it that much, and most of my driving is city anyways.
Non Performance mods wish list:
Parrot Asteroid Smart Stereo *drool* this will hopefully happen after Xmas. I'm going to add a backup camera with it as well that fits in the factory license plate light hole.
Window Tint I'm still undecided if I want to be illegal or not. I'd like 20% all around. I might stick with 35% though and stay legal. I'm also considering doing it myself with a pre-cut kit. I know it's not thaaat expensive but I kind of want to try, plus this seems like a good car to get some experience all the windows are super tiny.
I've been thinking about derping the chrome all over to matte black.
Euro style headrests for the back seats. I've seen them on a few posts anyone know where to buy? I searched and couldn't find a link.
Shark Fin antenna.
Maybe one of those non us market aveo sunglass holders that replaces the oh **** handle.
I'd like to put some kind of floorboard lighting in.
I don't have many pictures but I included one sitting in my apartment parking lot. (being into cars and living in an apartment is a drag
