I am one of those guys who does an occasional stroll through the toy section, just to see what sort of die cast model cars I can find. What can I say? I like cars.
A few months back, I was in a particular store, and found one of my favorite little cars. An AE-86 Corolla. It had candy red paint and a black hood and tuner logos on the body. It looked awesome but I am a horrible impulse spender, and on this day I decided to save my money.
So, just to pass along what I have learned since, if you like Hotwheels cars, be sure to look for two things on the car you have picked up. It might help you decide whether or not to blow a US dollar.
If the car has a circle with a flame in the center hidden somewhere on the paint or behind the car on the box packaging, that car is one of the Treasure Hunt variety; a car that has a different and rare livery.
If, however, the car you are holding seems to have unusually deep metalic paint compared to the other cars like it, and if the wheels seem to have a tread pattern, and if you can find a small 'TH' hidden somewhere in the body graphics, then you are holding a super rare Super Treasure Hunt vehicle with real rubber wheels.
Take a guess which one that little, seemingly insignificant Carolla belonged to...
Yep. 1 of 25,000 made.
Know your Hot Wheels. I certainly had no idea these even existed.
