Turbo Swapping!!

Hey everyone.
I've been reading all over the forum about people wanting to do turbo swaps and whatnot, well I jumped the gun and bought a Garrett T28. Something definitely bigger than the stock whistler, but not too big... i understand the 1.4 can only hold so much..
My only issue is that I don't know if I'll need some sort of adapter plate or something to allow me to install the aftermarket turbo..
any suggestions?

You're going to need a new exhaust manifold with a flange designed to except your turbo. The hot side of the turbo is one with the stock exhaust manifold...... Good luck with your swap.

Like sx sonic stated, DDM is working with Preloader to get a modified stock manifold fitted with a flange which is new and great news for the 1.4 guys. The only problem with that is it might take some time. You can wait for DDM or check out EndTankUSA and their exhaust manifold.

you can get a stainless header flange, and a stainless turbo flange, and have someone make the manifold in the middle if you're in a hurry. but, it's gonna cost you. you could rape a honda and put the chevy flanges on it. but again it's a lot of welding and will cost you.

over on the yaris forum they have a universal kit. you can buy the kit, take off the flange and put the chevy flange on...it's cheap but a lot of custom work. and the turbo side of the manifold may be on the wrong side.....idk i havent compared yaris to chevy.

Im gonna go with a mazdaspeed 3 stock ko4 turbo. A friend of mine is gonna do all the manifold cutting and welding. I already have the turbo, just need to get anothe stock exhaust manifold and the ko4 flange.

Yes I have the turbo already. I just have to order a $130 rebild kit and another sonoc stock mani so the fab work can begin.

but probably wouldn't want to go with a huge one and need a new manifold?

You will need a new manifold either way

Read the previous post...you NEED a new manifold if you use anything but a stock turbo (or a ported one).
