Not only is there the weight of the power steering assembly, but that is one less pulley to turn, resulting in less parasitic drag on the engine. Did this on my 96 neon, no a/c, power steering, just a belt to the alternator and was pleased with the extra power that freed up.

the power steering on the sonic is electric.

edit: I guess someone already said this. -5 for me not going to the next page haha
