What do you think of this audio setup?

So I'm putting my tax refund to good use and trying to get a more enjoyable listening experience.

Kenwood DNX573S Head unit
Alpine SPS-610C Fronts
Rockford Fosgate PPS4-6 Rears
Rockford Fosgate P3SD4-12 Sub
Pioneer GM-D9605 5-Channel amp

And while I'm on the topic of amps...
I know there are threads about loud warning chimes/turn signals, but I forget if this has been solved yet.

I am planning on building the sub into the upper trunk floor and making it removable.
Sort of like CarsNSkis did.

Apparently the dash kit from metra has a box that adjusts turn signal volume.

The -LC is the low cost version, it comes with nothing relating to the steering wheel controls or anything electronic related.

The original 99-3012G comes with everything needed to retain factory controls, besides the control for actual vehicles settings used in the stock radio (chime volume, lighting, etc)

Just go with the 99-3012 it comes with everything you need for install besides the Steering wheel controls, they are sold separately. It retains factory Bluetooth and OnStar.

The steering control kit I got from Walmart was the same one car toys uses, it has a small dinger that's adjustable, it's ungodly if you don't add the control box... the amp will make your ears bleed from the chimes and blinker.... just a FYI....

Does anyone have any opinion on subwoofers?

It looks like 7" total to work with between the two floors, so I am looking at a mounting depth of 5.5" to 6"
This accounts for .5" box material and .5" of clearance.


Is .5" clearance from magnet to box enough?

I replaced the lower spare cover, cutting a profile 1/2" smaller so it drops to the sheetmetal instead of resting on the plastic. If i recall right this gives you 7-1/2" from top of a 1/2" board to the bottom of the removable hatch floor.

If you were to replace the hatch floor as part of the box build you can eliminate the lower floor and then build down to the spare, gaining more room for your sub box.

I run a shallow JL12.. sealed prefab box and I'm happy with the sound for a removable and dos install, but a custom ported set up would hit much harder (and a 10 in a ported enclosure would be sufficient too)

Sub preference depends on what music, how loud, budget, amp, etc. Personally I've never been disappointed in JL and I've been using them since 1997. Alpine and Boston Acoustic are always sold choices.
