Where to get T20 screw???

Air filter screw??? Can't find replacement anywhere.

I stripped one of the screws when changing out the air filter....what's done is done but now I want to replace the T20 screw. I went I my local hardware shop but they didn't have the exact type of screw. Where can I find one? Should I just ask the dealer? Is it okay if I drive without the air filter being 100% sealed?

Fine to drive temporarily without a good seal if you aren't in a high dust environment. You could also clamp the airbox shut in a variety of ways. Also the bolt does not have to have a T20 head on it to work, what you're really trying to do is match the diameter and thread ratio. It should not be hard to find something that will do as a substitute at any large hardware store or at Fastenal... just take in one of the non-stripped screws and tell someone you need something like that.

Finding a real match might be harder, and yeah, it might be easier and not annoyingly expensive to go to a Chevy dealership for one. Or maybe an auto parts store?

Yay I got a fast reply! The one and only Swordsmith.
Cool so it is okay to drive like this temporarily, I'm in the city everything is paved so I don't see dust being a problem.
Ohh yeah it just needs to be a match in diameter, never though about it like that..
Yeah there's a auto parts store near me that I will visit next, later.
The hardware store I went to did have T20 head screws but the lines of the screw areny the typical lines.

you near a Westlake/Ace Hardware? (Home Depot or Lowe's probably won't have it)
Westlake Ace has a large section of bolts and nuts & screws

Also, O'Reilly Auto might have that thread pattern

The hardware store I went to that is right around the corner from my house used to be an Ace hardware but recently got bought out I guess cause now the store is called Cox hardware. Everything looks the same inside though and they did have a huge selection and I went in there with the screw but the man told me they didn't have anything in that exact configuration but it didn't dawn on me to try to find the thread pattern and diameter on a non T20 head screw like Swordsmith said.. There's an autozone and o'reilly very close to me also..I'm gonna go if I get the time today if not then for sure tomorrow.

yeah, inside the store (O'Reilly at least) will have a plate with multiple screw holes in it... which also list the thread pattern...

Why not get an magnetic drain plug? You'll be surprised the junk that collects on this the first few oil changes.

hardware??? McMaster-Carr everything ships same day. I use them on a weekly basis. Fastenal is also a great place if you have one locally.

No luck both auto part stores (o'reilly and autozone). The space between the thread is wider than anything available at the stores...I quit. It's impossible trying to search online for this screw too lol

So..a hardware store with hundreds of screws didn't have anything like it, auto part stores didn't have it...I'm gonna try visiting the dealer on Monday. I won't be surprised if they don't even have it! is it even worth going to the dealer for a little screw?

they can pull up the exploded view of all parts in a particular section of the car ... and any and all parts that are used in that particular area will be identified and have a part number ...

I was just trying to find a potential replacement in these 3 alternatives that are all less than 1mile away so why not try finding a fix there before taking the trip to the dealer, right?
