which wire to tap boost gauge into for illumination

Hey gang, im not sure which wire to tap for power when illumination circuit is active. Any ideas? Iv read people saying the loom going to light and fog controls, but which wire is it?

I originally bought a fuse tap, but cant find 10amp fuse only active when markers are on.

Installing boost gauge in dash left side of wheel.

Me and my buddy used the ignition fuse the light will come on when you turn the key on
And off when the key is off
It works

I actually used a fuse tap, and put it in the headlight asc fuse slot under dash. Thats been working just fine. I was trying to find a power wire that only gets power when the parking lights are on, instead of being on all the time with the the ignition on.

Unfortunately my boost gauge has no signal wire. Only a power and ground.

I was trying to find this as well, but gave up and just wired it in so the light is on whenever the car is on.

yeah I just used a fuse tap too... light is on when car is on, off when car is off.

Has anyone figured this out? I'd like to be able to dim my gauge with the dash circuit, but I can't for the life of me find out which wire I need to tap.

Someone in the airvent guage thread was showing an pic of the wire he used from the dimmer switch. The questionable part, is he ran his positive straight from his gauge into the back of dimmer connector.

I would assume the load from gauge wouldn't overwhelm the fuse for dimmer etc....

Ps. I loaded a horrible pic. But its in the other gauge thread.

I put an LED in mine as the OEM bulb was crud....that'd lessen any load too I think

How you have it might work fine. If your going to use that wire still, id suggest getting a wire tap connector and pop that on the dimmer wire.
Like said a few posts above, i used a fuse tap. You pull out a 12v fuse that has power when engine is on, and put a replacement piece in its place that runs the original fuse you just pulled, and an extra slo5 for fuse thats attatched to a red power wire.

Gotcha. I have a couple Scotchloks laying around, but shoving it in and adding a strip of electrical tape around the bundle seemed to secure it well enough. The problem with the fuse tap is that I wouldn't be able to dim the gauge with the instrument cluster (If I'm not mistaken).

You are correct, i have same situation here. I think both ways should work just fine. I wonder how to wire up multiple gauges.
