Winter tune

So it's my first real snow commute in the RS.... of course the stock tires are not ideal winter shoes and would aid in traction issues but as I'm researching tunes I'm curious if anyone offers the capability of a "winter tune."

Do any of the tunes (or tuners) offer the ability to switch modes? Lower boost levels in first and second would be ideal, especially with the close ratio gearing. Having two other modes like commuting and balls out would be nice too.

Any suggestions?

The traction control doesn't overcome the boost when rpms climb above 2k. I've just dealt with a nasty winter storm for two days and the traction control is mediocre at best. I've had better driving characteristics from driving with it disabled and modulating the throttle myself

Your problem will be solved with real winter-biased tires! The OEM Hankook's are 3 season's AT BEST!

I live down the road from you, so I know exactly what you're talking about. I have studded i-pikes and the car is MUCH more drivable with the TC turned off. I don't think anyone from here is doing the type of tunes you're talking about, but you may wanna consider contacting The Boost Creep Ltd - Dyno Tuning and Automotive Services in Longmont Colorado He is arguably one of the best tuners in CO, but I'm not sure if he can even tune on our cars. If I ever get to that point with my car, he'll be who I call.

This is why selct a tune was ideal. I wish they would keep the current tune but bring it back with a more stock tune like before.

Thanks for answering my question directly, so rare.

My thought was being able to use the stupid gap warning function since it has four steps and would be ideal for a stealth select a tune switch. As I've dug into tunes more I see this is no longer available.... I haz disappoint

As for tires... my new Hercules R-G2 "Haaak-offs" are amazing

still did not alleviate my desire for reduced boost at take off

I don't understand how you are getting boost when you don't want it. Just keep a light foot on the throttle and shift early and often. I watch the boost gauge and it doesn't go positive until I'm well into each gear (well unless I do NLS... but I rarely do that and certainly wouldn't do it when trying to keep power low)

As soon as I approach 2500rpm I can tell a difference in throttle response and wheel spin can be initiated. Shifting that early drops to a bog prone range in the next gear. I would like to stay in a higher rpm band without boost surge affecting traction. Basically I want it to act more NA for winter
