Yet another card slot GPS mount

I've seen a couple ideas here for using the card slot for a GPS/Phone/Tablet mount. I thought I'd share my variation on the theme.

One of the issues I have with other mounts is they tend to block parts of the dash. I didn't want that, so I did something a bit different.

So here is the mount itself. Not much more than a cut up chunk of aluminum angle, and a stick-on mount from eBay - a ball-mount specific to Garmin.



Here's what it looks like stuck in to the card slot.



And here's how it looks with the GPS attached. Notice that none of the dash controls are blocked.



You could adapt this mount to any sort of stick-on mount there is.

I hope someone finds this idea useful. It's my way of paying folks back for the information I get on this forum.

I already used a credit card to mount my ultragauge there..no place for the phone now. I only need the phone mounted when using gps..

I do. When I get gas~cards, or giftcards to (fill in blank here) that's where I put them.

That's the part I don't get. The idea of leaving an actual credit/debit/gift card sticking out of that slot seems like an invitation for a thief to break in to my car!

I think it was designed more for the parking ticket thing you'd get for parking structures/airports.

I keep the tint shop cards in there, I get a lot of questions on who did my tint.. I do like the mount idea, how stable is it?

Very. Shakes a touch if the road gets bumpy, but what mount won't?

I use mine for my parking garage swipe card.

I use it to hold my car wash pass. If anyone is so desperate that they need to wash their car (twice) I figure they can have it.
