I just sold my beloved M235 to work on a project I've always wanted to. So that being said, I have bought my 5th car this is a 2015 Sonic RS. Like all sonic owners we've seen the Modified Mag "Sonic Boom" since then I've always wanted to build my own rendition. I personally am not a fan of the "Slammed" look. Especially here in CO, it makes the car almost useless in the winter. Obviously since I wanted to build a car and not just drive it I bought a 6 Speed manual. I've always wanted a Matte gun metal grey Sonic with gloss and flat black trim. So here we go.
With this being said here are the plans :
1) Painting all of the chrome flat black (Not Dipping, I've dipped before and sometimes its just not as smooth as I like it to be and I wash my cars 2/3 times weekly and it starts to peel after a while.)
2) MPFab Air intake.
2a) Removing the high beam light to run ram air.
3) Exhaust. One of my good friends has run a custom race shop that works with many of the car enthusiasts here in CO. We have already talked about a butterfly style twin exhaust like the one on my M235.
4) Exterior Ground Effects.
4a) Either buy the Seibon Carbon front lip, or have 3R or 303 Motorsports fab me a one off.
4b) Have the same people fab a replacement wing. I love the rally wing on the "Transformers Age of Extinction" Rally car.
4c) Along with that I would like to do a custom rear diffuser to match the twin exhaust similar to the one in Transformers, but a bit more practical with a sweep angle not flat.
4d) Widening the fenders not just flares. I've talked to some of the performance shops locally and one said we could make the front resemble Pat Moros fairly easily but, the rear would take some extra time because its obviously not replaceable with Duraflex plastic fenders.
5) Wheels: I like what Modified Mag did with the adapters. I'm probably going to do the same with the 5x114.3, so I can put some Sparco Terra wheels on to match the rally theme. If I don't do the conversion ill have to find some different wheels.
6) Brakes: Stoptech big brake kit looks great although I'll need some help finding the right fit. I know the current are 10.8x1 but obviously upgrades aren't going to be the same size.
7) Tune: I'd love to hear what we've got out there as far as what tune is the best on the market.
8) Interior:
8a) Seats: I got this car as my first 4 Door so this is a difficult thing to balance. I like what "Transformers" did with their Sonic, and put matching Sparco seats all around. Which is what I'll be doing. Starting with the front will be matching Sparco adjustable seats. I'm a person who has to match, therefore I'll also be getting Sparco rear fixed, the issue is doing that while finding something to fill that gap.
7b) Optional: Maybe switch that light brown cheap looking headliner with black/gray alcantera if I can find an upholstery place that can do it.
9) Suspension: Reiger to be exact(I think) I would like to put their "D1" suspension on, although the motorsport companies are saying it could be some cutting and welding to make the plates match. In an email they said and I quote, "Your building a rally car out of a non rally car shell, I admire your innovation and if you want we can make almost anything happen, although if your doing it there is a price."
10) Im still debating on a bigger turbo from what I've seen on the forum it requires custom manifold, custom bracketing, and a whole bunch of what ifs. I don't like what ifs.
Now it is up to you; what else should be done and where would you put it as far as order. I know there are plenty of you with some brilliant ideas, I've read a bunch on the forums. This is going to be a Sonic Community car. Lets get this done!
