Top Speed

Not really taking all factors into consideration, generally, what speeds do you think I will be able to achieve on a tune. I may have the opportunity to put the car on the track at Lime Rock. It's a 1.53 mile track with a straight of about 3/4 of a mile coming out of turn one into turn seven. Do you think, on a tune I would be able to hit a top speed of around 130-135 assuming I'm coming out of turn one around 30-45 mph? I know the stock top speed is 124 mph.

Same here, but I have hit 117 in it so far.

The tuned 1.4T can hit at least 130mph. It can easily go faster, but at the time, I was too scared to go any faster.

I do not have pic but all the crap my wife gave me when she woke up and saw the speed you can ask her . It was on my way down to FL. on I95 just past the belt way a hot red jag sailed past me so I thought I would run with them to make up some time when he saw me fallowing close behind he took off . I kept up with him untill my wife woke up . sorry no proof .Take it or leave it I went 130 MPH it floated along . And my wife is still giving me crap about it as I'm typing this .

I've had my sonic up to about 77ish while passing on the interstate.

I went yesterday n test drove what should my sonic ....1.4t n it got 80 quickley on the interstate n it jus wanted to keep going but I had one of salesman with me so yea I had to resist lol I can see triple digits very easily and for sure with a tune

From what I've read, the Sonic is drag limited between 124-127 mph.

i believe you, with all these other posts it seems more than likely.

Fastest I've had mine is 80-81 so far. Trying to baby it seeing how I'm only at 1494 miles and don't have any performance parts yet.

Hit 120 with the wife in the car in 5th gear this morning enroute to the gym! Why in 5th, because I was trying to get as fast as i could before the exit, i honestly think it can easily get 130 in 6th. I have a tuned Sonic though, without the tune (on the same road) it took forever to get to 99mph!!

Hey guys, a while back, I posted up some plots showing "force pushing you forward vs. rpm and gear". I used the Trifecta data for at-the-WHEEL HP and Torque for both the baseline 1.4T and Trifecta tuned 1.4T.

The plot shows, leave it in 5th for a top speed run, going to 6th drops the amount of force. The force curve for 4th and 5th cross at 124 mph.

With the tune, you also stay in 5th until about 138 mph. I doubt the car will go much faster than that anyway...


If someone can squeeze 1000hp out of the 1.4T, the car is geared for 217mph

Sixth in my Focus was the same way. You hit top speed in fifth and sixth was more of an OD.
