Looking forward to the rest of the review
And maybe a "what sets this one apart from the others"
I can answer that!
1)The MPFab intake has a 6" velocity stack to help speed up and straighten airflow through the MAF. This adds cost on my end, but it's worth it to me to build the BEST parts I know how -My name is on this sh*t! Velocity stack intakes works better, therefore that's what I build.
2)There was extensive time developing the heatshield so that it actually keep heat out. The rubber seal actually touches the underside of the hood, the body, the engine mount, and radiator core support. This keeps the majority of the engine heat at bay. The intake pulls cool, dense air from the opening left after the air box snorkel is removed.
3)The air filter provided is the largest filter offered for the Sonic which means more airflow for that baby turbo to ingest. The filter is also a dry element filter. There is
no oil to be ingested and potentially skew MAF readings. Clean it just like you would a typical K&N, but once it's dry, install it.
4)The stock MAF housing was sent out to an engineer to model in 3-D. This step added cost on my end, but it ensured that the MPFab MAF flange matches the depth of the installed sensor in the factory housing. This keeps fuel trims in check and CELs off!
This MPFab intake is competitively priced with any of the other offerings available for the Sonic, but it offers a lot more for the money you spent.
