Sedans Rule!
When closing the trunk with anything more than a gentle nudge I would hear a sound as though the trunk was striking something. Well, it was. The drivers side bottom corner was actually hitting the tail light and combined with some grit from driving in the rain, it was scuffing the paint.
This is a pretty simple DIY, just adjusting the rubber bumpers and tail lamp housing. After doing this the trunk closes nice and solid without contacting the tail light or top of the rear bumper. I am showing the drivers side in the pictures but you will want to do these adjustments to both sides to keep everything even.
Here is the very close gap, even after adjusting, but now it does not make contact.
You will want to unscrew the rubber bumpers on the underside of the trunk so they are about 1" long
Next you need to loosen these two screws
While pushing the lamp assembly to the outside of the car with one hand, tighten the screws back up with the other
That's it, you can fix this yourself faster than it would take to call the dealer to make an appointment.
Cheers!
