Are Seat-Covers Recommended?

Do you think it is worth to buy seat covers for your car? Do anyone on here use them in their new Sonic? Do you like them/comfortable? Would you recommend them for new owners of a vehicle?

I am not going to be much help here as I was wondering the same thing. I like neoprene seat covers... allot. I find they are tight, and cover the seat well. More importantly, they hold a consistent temp. Very comfortable. When they get dirty... off they come and a simple hose down works wonders.

Being that my car is new, I don't think it'll look good right away - I am going to wait myself. Moreover with the airbags being on the side of the front seats - i'll have to find out if it'll hinder the system.

I believe there are air bags in the seats, so seat covers would not be recomended

There are plenty of aftermarket seat covers that are designed to work with the factory seat airbag systems. Some have not sides, and others are designed to come apart easily if the airbags are deployed.

i just bought some seat covers the other day and was having a hard time installing them do the fact that the back part of the seat has no gap. this is the seat cover that i bought Plasticolor Ford/Chevy/Dodge Logo Sideless Seat Covers - JCWhitney

In my opinion, seat covers are for like 10+ year old junkers with ripped and stained seats.
The patterns one these seats are either unique, if you have the cloth, or pleather, which is too nice to cover up.

Personal preference, you're going to do what you want anyway.

If you have kids in the backseat, you put seat covers in the backseat.

The waterproof, spill proof, knifeproof, kid proof kind.

Put seatcovers on mine first day. I work on cars, so I get dirt and grime on me. I'd rather put it on a cheap seatcover than my new seats. I had to tear the side of my seat cover to get it to go on all the way.

I wanted seat covers due to blacksmith grime, but the cheap KMart set I got didn't fit, I ended up chucking them out except for the seat belt cushions.

Later I picked up a couple cheap heated seat rigs, $20 each, so my girlfriend's seat remains hot whether she's driving or not. They also serve as seat protectors, so dual use. Winter's winding down though, so it would be nice to find something else to cover the seats with to protect them from me... just haven't seen anything that actually fits, the standard kit stuff sold in pep boys/autozone/walmart doesnt' seem to work on our seats very well at all.

I considered it, but didn't want to buy something without knowing how they look/fit. I was hoping someone would get some good ones and post it with pictures. I like the ones bandita52 got, but I don't want vinyl.

I've owned my Sonic only 2 weeks now and the the driver's seat bottom fabric is stretching and poofing up, not very happy about this at all.

I was considering seat covers to stop this from happening but, then I thought, dammit, I don't want to have to do this, it's Chevy's fault this is happening.

Taking the car into dealer soon to show what's happening, but in the end I may get one of those seat cushions (not heated) to protect just the driver's seat.

That's a bummer! Not sure what conditions would cause this to happen to some owners and not others. The dealership would have to take a look at your Sonic seats and determine that. Let us know what they say.

So I took it into the dealer, showed them the "poofing up" area, they said there is a way to stretch & tighten the fabric at the back of the seat bottom, so I said "do it!"
Got home, got out of car, still poofed, sigh.
But I made them note this in my service record they promised me a new seat if it starts to look bad.
