Cheap "JEEP" hood vent option

The hood windshield gap gets ram air already. Air is forced down from the windshield. Cowl induction works off air pushed by the windshield as well. You'll have to worry about water.

The camaro one is nice but I like the fact the D1 doesn't need me to cut into the hood braces/crumple supports. The vents all sit above the hood surface.

Here's my dilemma. I think you and I are looking for a similar solution!

Someone mentioned a Camaro vent, there's a stock plastic one from a 2015 SS... Or two carbon APR NACA ducts... decisions, decisions

It's a Camaro SS vent from the previous generation. It's huge! I like it too but waiting till spring when I do more cosmetics. Gotta save for the holidays and ski season!

I can't attest to the weather affects but I personally wouldn't be too concerned. The way these mount in the Camaro there's no shielding or diverter.

I've power washed the motor of every vehicle I've owned about once a month since 1992... never been the least bit concerned or had any ill effects

part number on that is 22828242, i was considering it but couldent get anyone at the shop to let me pull one off of a new camaro to see what it would look like..... i may have to get one

Well i finally trimmed the ss camaro vent down... test fit complete, should fit the under hood area fine, may need some plastic for rain diversion but that and supports will be easy... no excuses left not to cut dis beesh up... [emoji380]

I think that your hood is going to look awsome. When you finish your project, can you post the steps how you did it? I'm pretty sure that a few people on here, including me, are going to want to do the same thing to our hoods.

I'll definitely shoot pics. I'm curious to see if I'm going to need to spot weld the oem bracing once i cut. I may be able to get away with jb weld. We shall see... need some time off and still deciding how I'm going to cut it

To get an idea how far back from the front of the hood the gap between the radiator and engine is located.

Mocked it up for the final cut today. Air compressor wouldn't support the pneumatic cut off wheel so I used a jig saw and metal blade. Right over the turbo, almost centered on the hood. Very happy with the location.

Need to goto home depot for hardware to fasten the bottom, but it's 75% done and looks 100% bad ass!

I put up two Universal Vents up for sale (right/left) $165.64 each on SHAPEWAYS but have not test printed them commercially so I can't gauge the quality of their print in that material.

Hood Vents

These are based on the Sonic vents but face the opposite way than the ones I use (partially because some wanted it reversed). I'll have to reupload the Sonic specific vents.

The ones I printed locally for myself are fine with obvious print marks due to the cheaper print method
