I have 13k++ on my Chevy Sonic LTZ 6M --
This forum makes me feel better, and I am glad to find out that I am not alone. When I took this issue to the dealer, I was told "That's just how it is...they have nothing to compare it too" Fair enough, its a new car. However, the second time at the dealer, they failed to acknowledge there was a problem. When the car was returned to me, the clutch pedal clicked louder than before. I expressed my issue clearly in the customer satisfaction survey, and still have a clicky clutch.
I have owned nothing but manual vehicles in my life, and have driven literally hundreds of cars/trucks with a third pedal. Not one of those vehicles clicked when depressing the clutch. Turning the music up is NOT a solution, even if I blast music, you can feel the clicking. I also have a big issue with spraying WD40 on things and calling it fixed. The car is brand new, that shouldn't be necessary.
Anyone with a solution please post, it is driving me nuts. Even to the point of getting rid of the car. I drive way to much to deal with the constant clicking.
I dont want to go on a tangent, and want to keep this thread on track. I have also had water leak into the cabin under heavy ran a few times, PM me if you have experienced the same issue.

My sonic just started clicking this even on my way home from work, I do a ton of in-town stop and go traffic so it will get old fast. Came here to see if it was a common issue and glad to see I'm not alone, not glad a solution or definite cause hasn't been determined yet. 
Haven't noticed any side to side play but the click happens around the same spot both when I depress and release the clutch.

After all of my speculation and going 'round in circles searching for a solution to the clicking problem I've come back to the most simple and most obvious. You were right RS Turbo, the pivot point must have been extremely dry. I drenched it with some Liquid Wrench Silicone Spray. It has been a few days now and it is still absolutely silent. Do exactly as he says ladies and gentlemen. If you don't feel comfortable climbing under your dash to lube it, suggest it to the tech on your next service.

You were right RS Turbo, the pivot point must have been extremely dry. I drenched it with some Liquid Wrench Silicone Spray. It has been a few days now and it is still absolutely silent. Do exactly as he says ladies and gentlemen. If you don't feel comfortable climbing under your dash to lube it, suggest it to the tech on your next service.

Dont count on it to happen! that is an area of saftey in a crash and would need to be crash validated. Just lube the pivot and its gone.

I've had the same clicking in the pedal that started at about 3k miles on the odometer. I'm at 7500 now.
It's either gone away or I don't notice it any more. When I first heard it, it also seemed like it was originating from the master cylinder but the pivot would be more logical.
I didn't take it in, however. It's not that much of a bother even though I do a lot of city driving.

That silicone spray worked for me. I put some news paper down on the floor and drenched the pivot point in it. Push the pedal about 10 times with my hand and it hasn't made a peep since. Its been a bit over two months now and haven't heard the click at all!
Another thumbs up on the silicone spray. At first, it made more noise before I sprayed it, but after a while, the clutch completely stopped making noise.
I noticed the clutch originally makes the most noise during hot weather, so with winter around the corner, I can't really say it's THE miracle fix, but so far it's been doing well.

I find it amusing to see a few people mentioned "lubing" it with WD40 as if WD40 was actually a lube and not mainly a cleaner.
I'm considering using silicone spray but I would prefer the dry chain-lube I use on my ATVs if I can find the can. It sprays on wet, foams some and drys like a soap. Much better than the cheesy so called spray lithium grease you find in auto parts stores.
