Any more updates on your rubber dead pedal solution? Just curious if it was still holding up. Also, has anyone else come up with any other working alternatives yet?
I'm pleased with its look and function. The 3M adhesive backed material appears to bond well to the carpet; it hasn't lifted or moved at all, and provides a slip resistant easy to clean surface for parking your left foot. I would recommend this to anyone who doesn't want a dirty worn out spot on their carpet where there is no floor mat for protection. It works for me!

Think it will pose any sort of problem with cleaning the area? If you ever want to remove it, will it damage the carpet?
I'd be leery of drilling into the deadpedal area. Make sure you check to see what's under it and if drilling might allow corrosion or some other problem. (Speaking from past experience with drilling into car floors.)
I refuse to put my dirty shoes on the carpet so I just rest my foot on the mat a certain way now. Kind of upset me that there's no dead pedal but oh well.

After...
Made my own left foot rest plate. Getting annoyed the carpet getting destroyed whilel I rest my foot.
