The space between the doors that is black is just a sticker and if you remove it you will have body colored paint underneath. Lots of the black Sonic guys have peeled the sticker off because the shiny paint under it looks better.

No need to bring race into it white guys can peel their stickers too

after looking at some of the pictures in the thread im not 100% sure i want to peel them. I'm gonna goto the dealer and have them do it because in my opinion it is a defective part and when they peel them off if I like it ill just tell them to leave it like that.

Took my dealer two tries and 2 sets of decals to do the black between the doors (B pillar?).
They messed up and to replace the weatherstripping also.

If one looks closely at the passenger one there is still some air gaps in the decal near the weather stripping. But I do not eant them touching it again.

So yes, the dealer can replace them but one should hope they've done them before.

Yes , on their first try my bubbles were not that big but were all along the edge by the window. One tiny tiny bubble midway like you pictured. I could not understand how they thought this was acceptable. The drivers one they did was perfect. Replacing the passenger one it is nice and smooth now but one can a see one tiny thin bubble on the window edge.

I surmise it must be tedious and attention to detail is needed when replacing these. For a high volume Chevy shop this may not be their forte.

Has anybody else noticed that the Sonic emblem on the car trunk lid is not level? Mine slants down to the right a bit.

Suggest removing emblem and dynamat the hatch before putting the plastic cover back on

Just noticed this the other day. Front Passenger door the rubber seal is kind of melted/twisted/missing. Thankfully it doesn't leak but now that I know its there it bothers me bad. Definitely wasn't something I did.

Same here, looked exactly like yours. the seal gets hung up in frame, sometimes when I would roll down the window I would get a loud click/pop noice, dealer replaced seal and all is good.

Yes...they replaced the rubber weatherstripping on both my doors.. and while the drivers door looks flush and neat in that top corner, the passenger door is still pinched and not quite flush; and that was the second time they replaced it. They weather stripping and the black pillar vinyl seem complete rocket science on these cars for the dealers to work on...

Peel it off. I did that within a month or two of having my car and it looks fantastic without that crappy matte tape. Then again, I have a sedan, so I'm not sure how the same treatment would look on a hatch.

The tape is absolutely pointless. Luxury cars don't have it, why should the Sonic?

Yeah, I didn't do it still... Looks great on the sedan. The thing is it kinda ties in the rear door handle on the hatch. Not sure if or when I'll do it.

Yeah, I figured there was something about the hatch that the tape actually worked well with. Just couldn't remember.

Interesting there with removing the tape. It looks great on black, but I wonder how it would look with my silver? Probably like an early to mid 2000s VW Jetta?
