H&R Springs

So i have seen lots of hype over Eibachs lowering springs, but not much word on H&R springs. I have nothing against Eibach or have ever had a pair on my personal car, but I'm interested in H&R springs and I'm wondering if anybody is using them now or plans to use them? I like the idea that they are not a progressive design because i believe that is better if i remember correctly what i read some where once. They are basically the same price outside of the group discount happening now with the Eibachs. So anything about them is appreciated. Also how do Eibach and H&R compare in ride quality?

There are only a couple of SOF members who have lowering coils at the moment and to my knowledge H&R is not on any of them.

I believe H&R and Eibach are made by the same company. By reputation, H&R versions are a softer (closer to OEM) ride than Eibach.

Based on my reading, quality lowering springs are progressive in design and probably even those deemed non-quality.

My guess is once the Eibach versions are made the H&R version will not be long behind because that is the normal course of events.

The important thing is that there be a proven interest in the market target group for products such as lowering springs and given that TTR has gotten twelve pre-orders for Eibach lowering coils I find that that is a good thing for any of us interested in these products no matter which brand we may prefer or not prefer.

Very very true... the market goes where people put there cash. I might end up just ordering the Eibachs and see how it goes.

Huge H&R fan here - they are big in the VW scene, love them much more than the other options for the older VWs. I'd be temped to try a set of H&R Sports (their softer street springs) if they made them for the Sonic.

This is definitely wrong. Eibach springs are made by Eibach at their Corona, CA facility for the US market. They also produce springs out of Eibach Germany and they have been around for over 60 years.

H&R is a newer company with a much smaller history than Eibach.

By reputation, the H&R springs are stiffer, and in some cases lower, than Eibach. You have these mixed around. The Eibach Pro-Kit is the original street performance spring that has set the bar for daily comfort and performance.

The immediate difference is the drop.
1.2"f and 1.4"r approx. eibach per website
1.4"f and 1.3"r approx. h&r per website

I bet money the h&r's are stiffer. The Eibach pro kit will help to get your ride height a little closer to level front and rear. The h&r springs will give more rake than the car has with its stock suspension. Sato has these on his and the front looked awesome, but the rear didn't look much lower at all. My car has roughly a 5/8" difference front to rear which is why I opted for the pro kit to help eliminate the rake.

So if H&Rs are only made in Germany and Eibachs are made in California and Germany, than I am wrong.

I know plenty of people who have Eibachs... they ALL say they make for a very hard ride. If you want lowered but close to factory comfort then Eibachs aren't your brand. H&R, I have no clue.

I'm hoping Swift Springs will make their "Sport" model for the Sonic.

Everyone I know who has Swifts are completely satisfied with them. They lower enough for good looks, they add better handling, they maintain [at least] factory comfort, and they are made in a way that will not cause premature wear on other suspension components, like a lot of lowering springs do.

Maybe everyone here should write Swift Springs with an interest... the more product and choice for the Sonic, the better!

When planning to lower a vehicle i would never be looking for a factory ride. I figure the reason you lower it is to firm it up and lower my center of gravity. the obvious other reason is appearance. I made the decision and ordered Eibachs in the group discount since i figured id rather save some cash and i know ill be happy either way.

I got a email from Turbo Tech Racing saying they shipped today so I'm pumped to get them. I cant wait to see how they look on my cyber grey sedan. Christmas in early August!

Hey these H&R Sport Springs are finally out, now we need pics of them on lowered Sonics! I'm really tempted to get these since they're now pretty cheap at Turbo Tech Racing site, I've had them before on my previous car & loved them! I just need to know how they look!
