Hardwire radar dectector to Onstar mirror

Hello everyone,

In my last vehicle, I was able to hard wire my radar detector into the map lights in the overhead console. I want to do a similar setup in my Sonic. There is a wire harness behind the mirror underneath the plastic housing, that looks like I can tap into.

Does anyone have a wire diagram that can tell me what a color wires are a 12v switched and a ground? Is there even 12 volts running to the mirror? Would this potentially void my warranty? I don't own a multimeter, so I can't go poking around looking for voltage. Any info would be greatly appreciated, good or bad. Thanks so much!

If your state doesn't allow radar detectors, and you're caught with it wired into your vehicle (granted; a long shot), they can impound your vehicle.

And I don't know enough about wires to give you good advice there.

There definitly has to be a 12 volt constant otherwise you couldnt use it when the car was off. There has to be 12 volt acc because the light comes on when te car comes on. Not sure of colors but i have a voltmeter at work i use.

I used that site to get an idea of which I could use and then tested them with a test light. I have a cobalt SS which isn't on the list either. I think I used the Malibu wiring or something

I didn't have to remove the housing on my car, I just unplugged the harness from the back of the mirror

I did some testing; it's a 10 pin connector. There are only five pins in the connector that are actually hooked up.
o = pin
x = no pin
o o o x x
x x x o o

g p o x x
x x x o o
g = ground
p = power

The bad news, though, is that I'm only getting 10.1v. It seems like some new vehicles are being limited in how much power is supplied to the mirror. My escort 8500 gives a low voltage warning below 10.5v.

Btw the housing for the mount for my mirror splits when pulled apart. Almost no force is needed.
