Hey guys, so my 1.4t Sonic is at 152K miles and I was wondering, what engine internals would I have to replace in order to build as essentially 'bulletproof' engine? My goal is to make the engine tough enough to run the piss out of it and not worry about blowing gaskets and breaking down. This is my daily driver, and my only car. Therefore, I want to be able to reliably run it hard every now and again with peace of mind that I have taken proper steps to beef it up. Mods so far are snorkel delete, K&N hi-flow air filter, and bypass the bypass. That's it.
My goal for this is to have a list of parts to replace with either aftermarket or OEM to ensure the parts are in good condition, and once I have all of the parts in my possession, rebuild the engine with the new parts. BNR Pistons and valve springs? Replace stock piston-rings and head gaskets? What about turbo parts?
(I have searched the high mileage threads and Preloader's build thread on his separate engine, and haven't seen a direct answer as to what would definitely break if you ran it hard semi-frequently.)
