How to get rid of rice?

So I don't know how many of you know about my car but this is the exhaust I have on it. Got it about one month after owning the car around May 2012



Was looking for something a little less rice. What is the difference between the Magnaflow and Borla exhausts for the 1.8 sedan? Also according to the official GM Accessories website there are 2 different 1.8 sedan Borla exhausts available. Performance Exhaust Upgrade Package landing page

Is there any advantages or disadvantages with ordering through the car dealer or no? Like free shipping or not having to pick up a 6 foot box out of your 2"by3" mailbox?

I figured if I got a Magnaflow or Borla exhaust it would look more 'undercover' sort of speak. I would think it would be a better idea to have a whole exhaust system installed rather then just a muffler from an auto parts store. What does everybody think? Also I didn't realize it until my car got oil change about a month or so ago but the people who installed it used a cheap type of metal to hold up the muffler that has already started to rust. How do I avoid that. If so I can take a picture if that helps.

Here is what i did with my 1.8 Sedan. I had a Custom Bent System put on my sonic with a magnaflow muffler and had them construct it so it looked like the stock system after the muffler keeping the tailpipe hidden... check out my video to see...

Last time I checked magnaflow does not have a exhaust for the sedan. With that in mind you need a saw and a piece of pipe to fix it. The exhaust does not sound like a Honda witch is why I like it

I currently have a DDM/Solo delete pipe into a Magnaflow 10436 resonator, to SLP cat back (minus SLP resonator of course). I am very pleased so far. As things further up the line from the DDM/Solo delet pipe happen the resonator will either be replaced or have another added in.

So you basically just got a magnaflow muffler then had some piping installed to make it look stock. Sounds like a good alternative.

Took a picture of the rust I was talking about. Just got done with college when I bought the car and had the exhaust installed. So lived in NC for a few months with the exhaust until October. Then moved back home to AZ where nothing really rusts because its a desert. But this is what I was talking about in my first post of the exhaust holder thingy rusting even though its not even been a year I've had the muffler on.

Don't know if that helps explain anything to everybody. Is there a name for that thing that is rusting or no?

Pardon the salt.

The resonator helps reign in some of the unwanted noise in the exhaust. When the second cat went away I picked up a lot of rasp that I could not stand. The smallish SLP resonator (2-2.25" core) was replaced with a much bigger magnaflow resonator.

I'd go with Magnaflow. You can find it cheaper than the Borla and it has a resonator and muffler just like the Borla and comes in at the same diameter.

I bought a Magnaflow Muffler, Part #12635... Then took it to a Custom Exhaust Shop and had them remove the stock system from the 2nd CAT back, and Custom Bend me a new system with no Resonator, which is the large tank right after the 2nd Catalytic Converter (CAT for Short). I had them upgrade the system from the stock 1.75" to a nicer and more efficient 2.25" Size Piping leading from the 2nd CAT to the New Magnaflow Muffler. Then had them Piece a new Tail Pipe like the stock one was so to keep it Hidden under the car for a nice clean look. I love how it turned out. Sounds amazing! Just throwing it out there for you as for a reference to help out. thats what i did with mine.
