Ugh. I have a 2013 Sonic which I never ever take to the dealer. Well, about a few weeks ago I was running late to get out of town for a road trip and the car really needed an oil change. So I took it to the Chevy dealer (F. H. Daily Chevrolet) and had them do a basic oil change. Then I drove off for about 600 miles.
Here is where I am kicking myself. I never double checked the oil level. I KNOW better than that, but I was in such a hurry and, on top of that, it was the DEALER. If anyone should know the correct amount of oil it should have been them. But I didn't and now I am really mad at myself as well as the dealer.
At any rate, I just checked the oil level and it is WAY above the top mark. I will be posting a video of it in a moment. On top of that, I looked at the invoice and on the invoice they show that they added 5 quarts of oil. Right there on the freaking invoice!
So I'm taking it to an oil change place later today (in the middle of my vacation) and I am SO pissed off. Obviously I am going to give the dealership hell (as well as some crazy bad reviews for more than just this one incident) and I am also going to contact Chevy. But what I am most worried about now is whether I may have done any damage to my car. Are there any long term issues I should be watching out for? What sort of coverage do you think I might be able to get from Chevy or the dealership for this?
The only reason I bought this car new is because I no longer want to deal with repairs (and since I drive about 5K miles per year I expected it to be more or less problem free for nearly the life of my owning it - about 6-8 years). Now I'm worried that these clowns (coupled with my stupidity at trusting them outright) may have sabotaged that.
What do you all think?
