I know this is gonna sound crazy, but I do not value my warranty. I've never used a warranty on anything I've ever owned, the couple times I tried, when I was young (and dinosaurs roamed teh earth) whatever my problem was was always not covered, or there would be a labor cost that exceeded the total charge for repair at a local shop, or it would take 6 weeks, or crazy stuff like that.
In my business, I buy a lot of commercial tools and they always offer me extended warranty on them, I laugh and exclaim "are you kidding, I'm going to violate the warranty five minutes after I open the box".
I'm treating this Sonic the same way, to hell with the warranty, I'll do what I want, and if that means they don't cover some repair down the line, well it's probably all my fault anyway.
I don't see the difference between flashing in a Trifecta Tune (which is deliberately hard to detect, and which has already passed through service departments without any red flags) and putting in a new chip (which can be physically removed, so it's hard to see how that can be detected either), in both cases you are violating the warranty but doing so in a way where you might get away with it.
The tune, though, I can certainly say from personal experience, really works. Haven't seen the same said of the chip, which isn't to say it doesn't work, just haven't yet seen any reports. Also, the tune can be modified to keep maximum benefit as you perform various modifications on your car. And has Select-a-tune, which means you can run in eco mode most of the time, and just punch massive performance when you want it; does the chip offer something similar?
