Manifold heat shield

I was observing the manifold heat shield and started wondering... Whats the deal with this thing? Basically i see that it has some alleys that would allow heat the flourish onto the turbo and the shield itself would make a huge pocket of heat. Wouldnt it be uglier but more efficient to remove this plate so heat could actually not roll and hold right next to the turbo? Shield doesnt block from any underhood wires, hoses, etc from being harmed either...

You want to keep the heat in the turbo. Hotter gases means greater expansion means faster spool.

Second question was if there is any damages that can occur while the plates off? It will be off my car for a while because im painting under the hood to make it all look a little nicer. Gonna gun it all with high temp.

I think it's ugly so i took it off.

I took it off to use it for designing a stainless shield. Never had the time to get to it, and now it looks like I won't have to.
