I've heard about this engine but I'm curious if you guys know anything about it and it's potential. I'm thinking about trading in my 2011 Malibu for a new LTZ Malibu. If this car is half as fun to drive as the Sonic and you can tune more power from this engine then I'm pretty stoked.

It's the same motor that is in the new Cadillac ATS.

Let me know if you do this. My wife has a 2011 Malibu and I was thinking the exact same thing. That engine has been talked about before and sounds awesome! Curious what kind of deal you can get.

I had a Malibu Eco for a week, and I thought it was a rather capable car. Decently attractive unless you get that godawful pale blue color. I've seen reviews claiming that none of the Malibus are very sporty, but I beg to differ:

The slowest 2 drivers in the AM class you may notice are a bit off of the rest of the class. This isn't because we're both bad drivers, but because the FSAE car broke and we took the Malibu. As you can see, its surprisingly capable, despite being large and on Eco tires.

If it is the same motor as the ATS, I believe it was corn fed and tuned putting down 420 hp.
