New Trifecta EZFlash Features- Disable DTCs and Readiness Monitors

You do have to uncheck them before you flash, but I'm pretty confident you knew that.

Did you also disable p2096 and p2097? Those are lean and rich warnings for second o2, and will alarm the computer when it senses something is amiss.

The export function is so you can save all your adjustments, and import them the next time, so you don't have to remember to unclick all the different TC's every time.

What is reason for disabling U0121?

U0121 is something along the lines of an ABS communication fault. Trying to get rid of my christmas tree of lights

To my surpirse I noticed it and quite a few other cross module codes (Dont know what else to call them), so I'm now :banana:
There are 3 or 4 codes related to the fuse pull but that was the only one current. I'm going to write down the other ones and hopefully they are all codes defeatable with EZ flash.

Then when I get my tune update I'll edit them out and post the findings

Oh and I never deleted the "rich/lean" monitors. Ive never had those codes thrown, not have I had any noticable power changes when P0420 comes on. I will however disable it just because.

Why wait for the tune update? You can just flash the DTC stuff with your current tune.

If I'm remembering correctly EZ Flash will only verify the tune since nothing has changed and update the codes, that's why updates flash faster than a tune from stock to Trifecta tune. Eric or Jerry will have to verify that though.

Well then if you have 2 updates saved. Flash the older one in, then adjust the codes and flash back to the newest one.

Specifically the P2096 and P2097 codes. These are typically set when the downstream sensor doesn't switch from lean to rich or rich to lean quick enough when coming on or off the throttle or when transitioning between cruise/acceleration to open loop decel.

The timing requirement for this transition can be quick. Maybe 100ms. Can the actual timing value for this readiness monitor be adjusted instead of just turning off the monitor? This way if I put in a high flow cat and the transitions are a little off I could extend the timing out a few hundred milliseconds and allow the readiness checks to complete.

Can not pass NYS inspection with ANY readiness monitors turned off. I have been running an angled spacer on the 2nd O2 sensor for months and have not thrown a code.

Somewhat confused. Please elaborate. By monitors off, you mean sensors are removed?

Or are you saying they check the ECM for codes? Pretty sure they might look for it throwing a code, but I find it unlikely that they could check for the way you can disable them in the tune....

I'm not asking if a car will pass with the monitors off. I'm asking if the parameters regarding any specific code or readiness monitor can be adjusted so that the monitor or fault indicator is more tolerant to any sensor value that is borderline out of spec.

Ok. Somewhat confused about all of this. Pardon my ignorance, the only emissions tests I have had on previous vehicles (that I am aware of) have been sniff tests only.

So to reiterate this, EZFlash is turning off the monitor? And the scanner can detect this disabled monitor? Wouldn't this then be an easy way to detect a tune?

If they do not hook up to the ECM they should know no difference as long as it passes the sniffer test. I'm really not sure if the system/tool used to scan the ECM for codes will see the monitor disabled and flag it as a fail or not. I'm assuming it won't see the data and fail it anyway. But, that's a good question for Jerry or Eric.

Not relevant to the current inspection convo but disabling the ABS & TCM monitors does not fix any of the lights from an ABS fuse pull.

I expected it to be a shot in the dark and am not surprised by the results. Just want to share for any inquiring minds .

Was that just a sniff test? Or were scanners involved?

Was there an additional exchange of funds?

I know what EZ flash can do. I'm curious what BNR or Trifecta can do. Can THEY modify the readiness tables to be more tolerant to a fault INSTEAD of just turning the fault code off.

This is a far more functional solution to owners than have to pass a plug in test and their modifications have the potential to fail a readiness check or throw a code due to the changes.

I know of tuners than can do this, was wondering if (if needed) Trifecta can do it too.
