I put whatever it is to bring it to the top of the hatched area and then save the extra just in case. I rotate my stock so I dump that in the next oil change and then have another little bit extra on hand.
I would never intentionally overfill an engine as $ub is saying, there is a minimum and maximum recommended range, the top of the stick is the "maximum". ANYWHERE between min and max is 100% safe, anything above or below is not recommended, for a reason.
Besides, on these engines more oil simply means more liquid for the crank and everything to slosh through wasting power.
