people cant understand me when using hand free call

Hello, I just recently bought a new 2013 Sonic and so far I love the car except for the hands frre calling. Nobody can understand what im saying and says it sounds like im standing in a wind tunnel. Ive tried turning off the heat/air controls with no help. It is worse driving down the road then when sitting still. Can I do anything to make this more clear on thier end? The call on my end sounds very clear. Its just very frustrating and I end up canceling the bluetooth and talking on the phone which will eventually get me a ticket as I from Illinois. Any help would be great! Oh and idk if it matters but my phone is an LG Spectrum.

Huh. My car is loud on the inside because of various things such as exhaust and blow off from the turbo and I dont have that problem. I have to talk louder sometimes but thats because I have a slightly soft voice. Idk if it wuld help but I have my sound on about 30 during calls and the volume on my phone all the way up.

Have you tried to have someone sit in the car, you taking their phone and calling your car to see if your hear the noises yourself?

I say head to the dealer anyway if you are hearing issues then. Doing what I mentioned will give you a better description of what is heard.

I just got my 2013 too.

I've been told I sound wicked clear. It's so clear, someone asked what the ticking was. It was water drops hitting the roof at the car wash. I don't know where the actual Mic is, but I wonder if it's just not seated right...

Hope it's something simple to fix.

The mic is in the dome light. There are 2 small grill spots on the rear corners. The left one is the mic. The right one is just for looks.

I know if I have my defrost or dash vents on I get complaints about noise. If I set it on the floor and fan speed at 1 or 2 its fine.

I would try what ahtoxa said about having someone call from your car and see how it sounds.

Just got car a month ago and I was told by several callers that I was breaking up and to call them back later. I could hear them perfectly.

So I had my sister sit in car and I used her phone to call car and I could not understand her at all. Sometimes my cell doesn't connect to my link and cell phone rings. Doesn't seem to matter where the phone is. Once it was right under my link and once in back seat when it didn't connect. Other times it will connect in those places.

I have an old phone. A Verizon Revere I think it is. It's working good. There have been times where it doesn't sync right away, but if I press a button on the phone first, it would connect.

I was talking to some friends about how clear mine was and it was a sore subject for them. They said they went through 3 phones before they found one that would work well. The guy was using phones similar to mine too. A simple flip phone. No Touchscreen.

A suggestion... Do you have a friend with a phone you could try to sync up to the car? That way you could rule out the car if theirs works well....

Maybe Sync your Sisters phone to car, and use yours to do the "outside" calls. Just remove yours from the bluetooth first.

That's really weird. I've been told that the road noise is evident and that I sound like I'm on speakerphone, but it's still decent quality.

Seriously though, my callers hear background noise from the fan & from the tyres. Aussie RS's come with crappy Continental tyres.

Do you guys have right side drive? I know your upside down, maybe inside out also . Just kidding. Here in the states it's left-mic, right-blank. It's very posible cars with right side drive have the mic on the right.

Find out problem might have been from a old battery in my cell phone. My cell battery was two years old and not holding charge long. I was able to make calls, texts etc so I wasn't thinking it was the cause of distortion and dropped calls. I just got new cell phone battery. Tested it with someone who had heard it with old battery and they said they could hear and understand me. I was just sitting in my driveway, hopefully will be as good driving. With new battery the phone has been connecting even with purse behind my seat.

Word of caution. If you remote start your car to get AC going, don't be surprised when your phone stops working LOL.

I remote start my car from my Kitchen. Once I started it and the phone rang. I picked it up and said "Hello". No one was there so I thought it was a bad connection. It rings again and again I say "Hello.... Hello.... I can't HEAR you...."

Now I do get bad connections once in a while, but not two in a row, so if finally hits me... The car was so close that the Bluetooth picked it up and they were talking to the car, not me.

I don't know how to switch bluetooth back to the phone fast enough, so I just waited til I went outside. Maybe I could have just shut off the car, but I didn't and it hasn't happened since. It's funny now, but I felt silly then

That's interesting. I've had the radio on in my car, and my phone in my pocket while 20' away from the car and had that happen. I didn't realize it could do that with the remote start since the radio is off till the key is turned on. Maybe it powers parts of the radio with the remote start?

Actually, I haven't gotten to the car to actually prove it, but I can't see any other reason. It's happened 3 times. Phone rang, car was remote started and running and I couldn't talk. Weird huh?

I had the car about 5 feet from Kitchen window. I moved the car about 20 feet away to see if it makes a difference. I doubt the Bluetooth will pick up while it's 20 ft away. I'll have to get someone I know to call me to really prove it.

Oh wait, you said it did work that far away. dang.... LOL

On another note, these remote starts work from an amazing distance. I'd say I've used if from at least 200 ft and it worked. Another fun test to do...

Yup, this happens to me. It seems to happen more while on the freeway but when I'm in the city streets it's fine I'm told. One time I was driving on the freeway and I was trying to order takeout pizza…mann it was a bit of a hassle…"what sir? oh okay, what? you want the what". Then my lady said "you see? I told you that stuff doesn't work". So I still always have my earphones with the microphone by my neck so i'll be ready to take a call.
