Removing front license plate bracket.

Ok i live in NC , i bought my car in VA , they require a front plate and we dont. While i had my temps i left the front on because they will pull you for it and i didnt feel like getting hassled. Got my NC registration yesterday so i went and put my plate on and then took the plate off the front and much to my surprise there are no skrews holding that front plate bracket on. It looks like its pressed in somehow. I cannot get in between the radiator and the inside of the grill so i cant see if its screwed in. Any ideas ?

plastic rivets...use a drill to get them off, however there will be holes in the bumper.

All I can think of is at my local Harley dealer they have push buttons . they will plug the hole .They come in all sizes and colors . The buttons fill in allen heads screws .

Simply drill out the aluminum heads with a bit a lil larger than the hole.

4 small holes will be left behind. They aren't very noticable but you could easily find a plug for them. Personally, I'm gonna look for a EURO plate and see how it looks. It's amazing how much of the intercooler airflow this bracket covers.

The rivets hold better because they spread out behind the plastic, where if they used screws they would strip out easily and fall off. I work in a body shop and I have to pull those things off of old bumpers and put them on replacement ones all the time. The problem is it will leave four holes, which I would personally find 100 x more unappealing than the license plate bracket. There's one on mine, I didn't want one, but I didn't have much choice in the matter even if I live in NC. By the way, what part of NC do you live in? opcorn:

In a majority of states it is law that you have to have the front plate. Kinda dumb appearance wise, but if people were more aware of how often their own front plates were actually scanned by police patrols they would be more understanding. There is a vast number of stolen cars that are found, people found driving on suspended licenses, etc, etc. that are actually found because of driving the opposite direction, head on with a police officer.

It in turn makes the community a lot safer having these people who should not be driving off the streets.

And four holes that are easily plugged with panel retainers:

There's an Advance Auto Parts store two blocks from my house and this is the exact part I used: Dorman Products - 963-056

I went with a 7/32 drill bit which created a hole that these plugs fit very snug into. I don't believe they'll be rattling loose any time soon. And even if they did, I'd buy more and use Superglue to secure them.

I think these 4 panel retainers look 100x more appealing than the gaudy license plate bracket.
