Suggestions on getting more power.

About a month ago I bought my 2014 Sonic LT in Dragon Green Metallic. I'm looking to get some more power out of the engine, I was looking at the trifecta tune and the MPFAB intake. I've looked at the forums trying to figure out which trifecta would be good, and trying to understand the differences in each one. Should I get the tune or the intake first, and which tune? Is the tune and intake worth it, i have a 1.4t automatic. I want to be able to flash the stock tune back at anytime I take it in for service. Thanks for the help in advance!

Using premium fuel in the tubocharged Sonic is the single most cost effective mod available.

Tuning no matter whose enhances using premium fuel and makes other bolt on upgrades effective.

A short ram intake along with a freer flowing exhaust makes best use of the first two.

All of the above in concert will result in significant discernible improvements. Lowering, wheel/tire changes, rear sway bar or brace will allow one to take advantage of these but are not necessary.

Personally I noticed no difference in performance or MPG with premium alone. However, after you tune it I would suggest it since you'll be running increased boost and it will help with knock prevention.

I'd take it to a local dyno shop with the intake or whatever parts you buy and have them tune it with HP Tuners. It'll be a little more money most likely but I'd bet it would make more power and be a better tune.

Your question is mixing apples and oranges and therefore is unanswerable unless modified.

Trifecta provides a very complete explanation of their advantage, advantage plus, and elite tunes in the Vendors Forum. Very detailed so perhaps a look there is in order?

Essentially the cheapest one is a canned tune, next one up they will calibrate your mods into the tune and the last one is for heavy mods.

If you don't plan on doing much more than you mentioned, get the canned tune. I've been running the full tune for 2 years, only data logged once and haven't needed to change anything.

Also, get the tune before the intake.

Okay, thanks for the help. Thus might be a stupid question, I'm going to just get the Advantage tune from BNR. Does the red cable come with the tune? Or is it purchased separately?
