Trifecta Tune Transparency

Hey,
I remember awhile back someone mentioning that the 1.8L Trifecta tune did not have the transparency option, just wondering if that was true?

The E83 ECM used in the 1.8 doesn't have a flash counter, so no, it's not easily detected. caveat, the TCM does have a flash counter so if you have an auto the dealer could find it by looking in your TCM.

I'm not sure the TCM has a flash counter, I believe instead that they can tell because something in the flashed data is a giveaway. BNR would need to specify as they didn't in my email exchange with them on the subject, but they seemed specific to NOT mention a counter with the TCM. It could simply be that the adaptive learning is permanently disabled in the flashed TCM, which it would never be in the stock TCM programming, for example.

Unfortunately a lot of this stuff isn't very well documented (clearly/definitively) by the mod developers. I'm sure they have their reasons.

I'm pretty sure there is still a "reset TCM adaptives" function/option in EZ Flash. I don't know if he can turn off the adaptive functionality or not.

you're correct, which could also be used on a stock car.

The 1.8 does log reflash file numbers though. When I pull it up in ecm info I can see every time the computer has been flashed.

I know this is a joke but the 1.8 drives great with the tune. For anybody wondering what to mod if anything on the 1.8 get the tune it honestly drove like **** before it. Better mpg and it pulls with no "dead spots". Yay I've promoted enough...

I agree with you completely and we are just joking around. There is always something to be had with tuning no matter what motor or vehicle you are modifying.

Yea just the way he tuned the trans made me happy, it shifts early but now has the torque to make it work, the "high reving to make the car move" doesnt really apply anymore.
