UltraGauge causing communication issues 2017?
In February I installed the UltraGauge in my 2017 1.4l RS hatch and about a week later while driving I had just about every light on the dash come on. Stabilatrac, power steering assist, traction control, ABS and probably some others. It wasn't shifting correctly, gauges weren't working correctly and down on power. I pulled over, shut it down and restarted and everything seemed fine, read the codes quickly and started driving and it did it again a few miles down the road. I was able to get it to the dealer after shutting it off and restarting. The dealer was about to close but said they could look at it in the morning so I tried to drive it home with no luck. This time I shut it off and I couldn't get it to restart until I disconnected the battery for a minute. I left it with the dealer for three days and after having two technicians look at it they couldn't find anything wrong with it but did inquire about the UltraGauge. I explained it was just to monitor engine parameters since there are very few gauges in the car. I said "bull ****" and they would get the towing bill when it did it again.
Fast forward seven weeks and no problems at all until yesterday, it did it again at start up. The codes were as follows P0150C, P2544, U0073 and U0100. These are all communication codes between various modules TCM, PCM, ECU. I dropped it off this afternoon and they called back a few hours later and are saying the I will have to remove the UltraGauge and drive it without it hooked up claiming that it might be causing the communication issues. I've researched and found some other vehicle makes that have had similar symptoms. Some say it could be the "refresh rate" is set to low and others claim the OBD2 pin layout needs to be altered which I'm not interested in doing. What do you guys think? Has anyone else had these types of issues?
