USB hard drives for Mylink?

I'm currently using a USB thumb drive to hold my music. A couple of things I don't like about this setup. Not sure if it is me, the thumb drive, or some settings someplace.

1. The songs play in alphabetical order, not album-order.
2. There is an annoying "fade inout" for the songs when playing through MyLink.

Can either of these be changed? Haven't been able to find any settings to address these...

Also, I was thinking about getting a large, 500GB, drive to hold ALL of my music. Anything in particular to look for in a USB drive or are they all created pretty much equal? Will they work on the cars voltage? I want to make sure the two issues above are somehow a function of the drive, and not MyLink.

This has been discussed a bit on here, but I won't bust your balls.

1. The usb port won't supply enough juice for a hdd.
2. The stereo has a data limit that it won't read beyond, 16gb maybe, unsure.
3. The stereo has a song limit, 2500 or something.

You're best to utilize multiple smaller usb sticks.

I haven't experienced the fading issue. As far as randomization goes, push in the tune knob when mp3 is selected. Pushing the tune knob has seperate functions for each band, fm/am/xm, and media as well.

Ummm, tune knob? Don't have one. I formatted my USB and added some new tunes. Seems to be reading the files in the proper sequence, but still fades in and out. I did find some discussion about the voltage issue. Still working on the fade issue. I'm off to the car!

Wow, I didn't realize the mylink systems were completely knobless. That's crazy and must be a pita. The band/media options are buried in there somewhere I'm sure.

Actually, the MyLink is easier to use even though knobless. And that is saying a lot because I am not a tech type person. For example, I can tell you the specific day I last used a smart phone. (Hint: I have never used a smart phone.)

Have you checked the MYLINK master thread? I posted a link to the 2013 mylink manual.

Im not sure if it covers your issue or now. You could always talk to your salesperson who can look up the info.
