Using JL amp with hi level inputs?

I have bounced back and forth if i should give in and buy an aftermarket HU or get a LOA for my subs. But I was told since my amp has a hi level input, I could use that as a LOA in a sense? By splicing the wires from the hi level input to the speakers as I would with a LOA? If this is true, I'll be a happy camper. But how would I be able to shut off the amp at this point if at all? I used a rocker switch on my old car, but I didnt hook up my amp this way before.. So would I need a capacitor?

I know all of this is a lot of questions, but I'm not fully positive on these things and would like to keep my car in one piece if it wont work.

I think high level inputs generally use the signal itself as a remote turn on. At least that's how mine works.

edit: Maybe I spoke too soon. Looking at the manual, I don't see any indication that the amp will turn on with speaker inputs. Generally, I think that most of the sonic owners are connecting the remote wire to the 12v accessory port.

Also, hi-level inputs does mean that you don't need a line out converter.

Oh I know it wont turn on with the speaker inputs. I had my remote wire on the HU ran to my switch and that ran to the remote connector port on the amp. And I'd simply flip it to turn it on or off so the amp wouldn't drain my battery, over time.

But could anyone verify the remote wire being ran to the accessory port? I don't want to screw anything up on this car.. Plus I'm wondering about a way to manually turn the amp on and off while still listening to the radio with or without it. I have an almost 1 year old so and I don't want to rattle him with it.

Yea hi-level inputs means you do not need a line output converter. The amp itself will have a switch to choose between a 12 volt remote turn on and an audio sensing turn on.

A capacitor doesnt do anything for turning the amp on or off. Its just a filter inline so all the power doesnt get drained from the battery and dim the lights.

Sorry posted that after. Yes you can grab 12 volt accessory from the cig lighter. It turns on and off with the car so no battery drain. If you want a manual switch than wire it inline with your renote turn on wire from the cig lighter.

Now do either of you have a wiring diagram for the rear speakers?
I have 4 speakers in my Sonic and I'm unsure where the speaker wires run on this vehicle. And like I mentioned before.. I'm wanting to keep my car in one piece as much as possible..

Will it have a better connection if I splice into the speaker wires behind the HU or would it even make a difference?

Not really. Alot of people catch it in the drivers kick. Either or will do.
