Worst Car Ive Ever Owned

I picked up a 2013 Used GM certified Chevy Sonic RS white hatchback. Ive had the car for about 2 months now and I can no longer bite my tongue. In my opinion this car is awful. Ive been to the dealer 5 times for all sorts of things. The water pump, clunking noises, hatch not opening on 2 separate occasions and the list keeps getting bigger and bigger. There's new clunking squeaking noises everyday. Now paint is falling off the front end with clear coat spots the size of my fist missing. Called the dealer they said sorry, that sort of thing is only covered to 12k miles. The leather seat looks to be cracking or splitting a bit already. Ill be talking to some off the attorneys i work with tomorrow to see if there's anything I can do. This car has been nothing but a let down....should have kept my Mazda. All this being said many of you love your car and have no problems...that's fantastic, but I am no longer one of those people.

Ever wonder why a 2013 was on a used car lot?? That should have been the first flag. New cars usually have a reason to be there. How about instead of pissing and moaning here you contact GM customer service about it and see what they can do.

I didn't call the exact Chevy specialist that are on this forum(or maybe i did) but i now have a case open with them. That's all i know as of yet. I expected and understand any and all hate that will come my way for this post. Its just crazy to think a car this new should have these issue that could cost me out of pocket is crazy.

I really want to love this car. On its good days its enjoyable,fun to drive and handles great. Its even quite comfortable. For the sake of my attempted love i would give another sonic a try. I don't hate the Sonic....I hate my Sonic. If none of these issues had occurred(so soon) I would have nothing but good things to say at the moment.

It is odd though, whenever a new car comes out, you'll see a used one a couple of months later.... Why? Buyer got in too deep? Early production model with some bugs? hard to find the exact info...besides contacting the previous owner directly.

Let's face it, most one year old cars on dealer's lots are there for a good reason. They are usually problematic cars that were not or could not be fixed to the owner's satisfaction and rather than get more and more aggravated, the owner traded it in. Happens all the time with all makes and brands. I am very suspicious of current year or year old dealer trades with few thousand miles on them. Today you will take a beating on your trade no matter what make or model, so not too many people trade in practically new vehicles unless they have a compelling reason.

Former rental vehicles are a safer bet, believe it or not.

ha though tempting I couldn't do it....mainly because the law firm I work at are the defense attorneys for the very people who insure the car. I smell an investigation haha. Oh yea and its illegal(in case anyone else is reading this)

My Sonic LT was exactly one year old when I traded it in for my Sonic RS. As far as I know the LT was in good shape but the cost of upgrading the interior was too much for me when I could get it in the RS and I wanted the RS steering wheel and did not want to wait several months for it to be available at the dealer parts counter.

Also, there are a lot of auto company employees who buy using the employee discount and trade in every year as their trade in value is close to their cost. Of course that works for the more expensive cars where the employee discount could be seven or eight or mre thousand dollars.

My point: not all one year old trade ins are there because of problems.

I'm local to you, work for GM and would love to meet you, and have a look over your car. I cannot do a thing for you other than let you get in mine and see if it's just a "Sonic Thing" and give you unbiased opinions and personal help on your troubles.

I respectfully disagree with you on this. My employee discount on my Sonic was south of $1K and with a "bonus cash" promotion going on at the time, I was near $1.5K off sticker.

I doubt I could've traded my car in for that the very next day for anywhere near what I paid for it.

Of course, the example above isn't as close as trading in a '14 car in 2014, but you get the point - GM doesn't give cars away - not even to their employees.
