So far we're mostly correct.
There are 4 parts to the sonics exhaust, which is about the same general setup as all cars.
Starting from the replaceable parts of the exhaust near the engine to the tailpipe we have the following
-Downpipe (header for the 1.8)
-Midpipe/flexpipe
-2nd cat
-Cat-back
Cat-back= replacing the back ~1/2 of the exhaust. This would be the piping and muffler/resonator. ZZP also offers an option for their cat-back that replaces the 2nd catalytic converter with a "test pipe" (straight pipe) for better flow.
Turbo-back= replacing the entire exhaust starting at the turbo discharge and going all the way to the tailpipe. It will provide the most turbine noise (only audible at low rpm and stepping into the throttle) and also the most power.
It
does not require a tune to run, however since you're replacing the 1st catalytic converter it will eventually throw a "catalyst efficiency" CEL, typically about 200 mi the 1st time and every 60-140mi afterwards. With Trifecta you can disable that monitor so the code never pops up, but it won't affect actual operation. Or if you have an Ultraguage, Scanguage, or Torque app you can just clear the codes when it pops up.
Here's a link to some Dyno results that MPFab posted up using his "Anaconda" 3" DP/midpipe combo and the Anaconda + custom 3". The results will be somewhat similar to what you'd get with the ZZP turbo back kit or just catback kit Link:
