Default M32 series 6 speed manual gear ratios

I was doing some Googling and found the gear ratios for a few different flavors of the M32 series 6 speed manual used in the Sonic and Cruze.

The MZ4 as fitted to all 2012 1.4T Sonics:

Final Drive/R&P: 3.65

1st: 3.82
2nd: 2.05
3rd: 1.30
4th: 0.96
5th: 0.74
6th: 0.61

The MF3 as fitted to the Cruze ECO:

Final Drive/R&P: 3.83

1st: 4.27
2nd: 2.16
3rd: 1.30
4th: 0.96
5th: 0.74
6th: 0.61

The MR5 as fitted to the regular 1.4T Cruze and Sonic RS:

Final Drive/R&P: 3.83 for Cruze. 4.18 for Sonic RS

1st: 4.27
2nd: 2.35
3rd: 1.48
4th: 1.07
5th: 0.88
6th: 0.74

The MZ0 as fitted to 1.8 Cruzes:

Final Drive/R&P: 3.94

1st: 3.82
2nd: 2.16
3rd: 1.48
4th: 1.07
5th: 0.88
6th: 0.74

I really wish they had put the MZ0 in the Sonic. It's 1st through 5th are very similar to my 85 Scirocco's close ratio box as well as being virtually the same as the European Opel Corsa OPC. Oh well, guess I'll just have to wait for the 1.8 Cruzes to start hitting the salvage yards.

Not to mention the Cruze LT's ratios, which worked very well in the 1LT Cruze that I test drove:

Final Drive/R&P: 3.83
1st: 4.27
2nd: 2.53
3rd: 1.47
4th: 1.07
5th: 0.87
6th: 0.74

I also drove the the 1.4T Sonic and it worked well, but I think the heavier Cruze felt at least as energetic as the Sonic. Of course, the Sonic is rated at 29/40 and the LT Cruze at 26/38.

That's the MR5 ratios. What engine was in that 1LT Cruze? 1.4 or 1.8?

Edit: Nevermind. I figured it out. I'll add it to the first post with the corrections from the GM chart I found.

Interesting. Nice find. I always figured the Cruze Eco had the tallest final drive transmission, but looks like the Sonic 1.4T does. I wonder if any Cruze owners will try to source a Sonic 1.4T transmission for a small boost in highway econemy? I assume they are all interchangeable. Reminds me of the Metro world. There are 4 different interchangeable transmissions available for the Metro/Swifts that yield different highway fuel econemy.

there is about 60 total variants of this transmission around the world. You can literally get just about any gear set you want with enough looking, as its in almost every european name brand you can think of an a few you wouldn't since its been in production since 2004

The Sonic RS will have the MR5 version. I updated the list in the first post to reflect this.

Agreed here...multiple Scirocco owner...that would indeed be ideal...alot of us Scirocco owners with the close ratio boxes ended up putting in a taller 5th when what we really wanted was a 6 speed

Anyway, thanks for the great info...and yep...just have to keep the eyes on the junkyards here in a few years to get a nice close ratio box to drop in our "non-RS" cars.

Hey moderators. Would it be possible to get this made into a sticky?
