Hi everyone! Just traded in my 2008 Impala yesterday for this:

Six miles on the clock. 2013 model. Got the 1.4T with a six speed stick. It's a blast! Definitely more eager than the Impala. I'm currently looking through the forums to see what all mods have been discovered thus far for these cars. Looking forward to being a member. If anyone has any suggestions for what looks good on the white sonics, let me know!

Welcome and the Trifecta tune should be the first thing you do for you 1.4. Right now BNR has a holiday sale going on for 15 bucks off the tune and a free cable totaling 300 vs 315 for tune and 150 for the cable.

As for visual mods, Tint, Blacked out wheels, and black mudflaps look great on the white HB.

Like rdss mentioned the first mod i would jump on is the Trifecta tune through BNR. If you think the Sonic is eager now wait till you feel all that extra boost from the tune.

I have had a tune on all of my previous vehicles, but none of them had warranty. The trifecta tune makes me nervous for powertrain warranty reasons. I saw trifecta has the select-a-tune feature via cruise control, but is the dealership still able to pick up on the aftermarket tune when it is in stock tune mode?

Also, window tint may happen at some point. I don't know about dipping the wheels or anything. I kinda like the wheels as they are. And do you use gm mudflaps, or are those not an option from the dealership? I don't know what all extra accessories gm offered, because I told the salesman to not sell me anything extra at all. So we didn't go through the whole schtick.

Are there any vinyl graphics packages that anyone likes? I have seen a few on google search and looking through here, but there is ALWAYS another graphic somewhere that is killer.

There have been many tuned members that have had no issues with it being detected, one member here is a GM tech and could not find the tune at the dealer level. If for some reason it was sent in to GM they could find it but if they send it in you'd already be screwed.

Dipping the wheels is really easy, search youtube for dipyourcar.com, Very affordable as well and it comes in many colors! Some people have even used plastidip as a way to add graphics (term used loosely) to the Sonic.

Edit: I forgot about the mudflaps, Yes GM has options and you can go aftermarket as well. GMPD catalog

Awesome. Well if he couldn't detect it at the dealership, then it sounds like it is safe for warranty (from the electronics standpoint anyway).

I couldn't find if anyone had dyno'ed an otherwise stock turbo with a six speed to see what the increases. I saw the increases on the cruze, but I know several factors can make the numbers slightly different. Any idea of an exact dyno proven figure for the increases?

35HP/ 50TQ IIRC. Stock boost is 12-16 PSI tuned 20-22PSI with a boost in MPG if you can keep your foot out of the floor.

Awesome...graduated from Harding but all the teachers I work with are UA grads.....wooo pig sooooiiii.lol.....well if you ever need help with your Sonic or advice just inbox me....maybe we will get enough Sonic owners up here to have a local meet sometime if ya see a clean Summit White sedan rolling on 17" black Drag rims with CF emblems that will be me
