Lol last few times I've been at a stop light I've heard my tires screech as I drive away at the sight of green. Makes me smile
until one day I'll see red and blue lights behind me.

Been there, done that. No fun
Just finished up with court this last wends. Verdict was I have a "loud exhaust" and owe the fine state of Illinois $200.
Oh and when I passed the cop I was tooling along at 30 mph in 6th gear, according to his testimony in court it was one of the loudest he'd ever heard. I suppose all the farm trucks in my area are quiet.
Seems that he would have had to provide some evidence on that one, just his word?? He could bring anyone in for anything!

You can get a reckless driving summons for that, no?
i have 4layers of gt mat behind the plate and dont want the tx heat to melt the tar in the sound deadener so i put that there to hold on a cover behind to matting... and no there arent holes for it.Zipties on the license plate eh? Too hard to put two more bolts in, or does only the hatch allow that?
I would love to have another reason for others to buy a hatch.![]()

Four layers of mat just behind the plate? What does that do?
my sub goes boom boom
Preloader, I need your opinion.
I've been practicing brazing on 1/2" ID pipe just to see how it works. So far, to me it seems almost identical to soft soldering except the filler likes to go ANYWHERE there is heat other than just where you have flux.
This picture shows my latest joints, lower down on the pipe are previous joints. I'm learning to use less brazing rod on my joints and to use the heat to spread it evenly rather than add more metal to get it to spread.
I'm using Stay-silv 15 rod and they are all copper to copper joints.
Opinions? Too much heat? not enough? Looks good? I'm 99% sure they won't leak, but I'm going for cosmetics here.
Looks pretty damn good. I would also be confident it won't leak, but I can see some areas where you didn't get "100% penetration". The fitting will be black on the outside where the rod has travelled on the inside when it's cooled.
Not a big deal. 40% is the typical standard, but 100% is required for medical applications.
Also, was the joint glowing cherry red? You want that. The heat is just right when you move the flame and see a quick rainbow flash. You want to work the rainbow..... taste the rainbow.
As far as cosmetics. You got it. Unfortunately brazing just looks nasty. One tip is that when you are satisfied with your joint, immediately quench and buff it with a soaked rag. It'll get the oxidation off and leave a semi-gloss finish.
Also if you really want to get fancy, you can "cap" your brazes. Let the joint cool til it no longer flows rod. Get it just below the melt heat again. Lay the rod flat along where the cup meets the pipe and just dance the heat on it til it fuses. It takes a little practice, but once you get it, you got it.
At out hall we do a project with 3" copper. Each 90 is approx $90
One time I got to braze 6" at work.... It takes a huge rosebud, and no kidding, about 10 minutes of heating before you can get the rod flowing.
