Does every door have one like the older cars or just the driver door?

If just the driver they probably left it in the middle, since it was already there so the passenger could reach it. Just a guess.

My 1980s cars both drivers and passenger doors had unlock\lock switches.

It only had it on the driver side door on the right side of the door handle.. its small

Not enough people could find the one in the middle.

I can't believe they'd spend more on locks but cheap out on the shift fork tips.

Plastic fork tips have been in use for years. Every manufacture that uses them knows about the issues they cause. The hope is that it lasts just long enough to make it out of warranty. Just like the ****ty swap bar end link design. If they change back now it will be just as good as admitting they screwed up and knew it was a problem.

Besides,

More "problems with manual transmissions" means pushing more towards automatics.

I'm fairly confident car manufactures at least the ones selling to the U.S. hate manual transmissions and view them as a warranty nitemare. People damaging clutches and syncros and then acting like its not their fault and so on.

Besides, plastic isn't necessarily bad.
However, my toilets are loosing a lot of plastic! My latest project.

I got tired of plastic fill valves failing and while I was at it changed the tank bolts out for solid brass ones. And then the plastic flush handle had to go and so on.

I have to do our downstairs one next. Same treatment basically. The ball**** is all solid brass and copper, nothing is plated.

The best part, no more water hammer!

Things that are inside a manual transmission.
I'm guessing they are U shaped things that fit around the cylindrical devices that engage and disengage to the sides of the gears.

Don't know any technical terms sorry.

Haha I want a tail for real. If I thought I could have it done right, I'd have a surgically implanted mountain lion tail. It's long enough and strong enough to be useful and fun.
