The only time you'll have trouble lowering the Sonic is if you go with a wider tire, wider wheel or throw a spacer on. I think that's the reason you got sarcasm other than the fact that it has been answered many times.... Until you either push your set up inward or outward there should be no interference and members like iraqivet and others (users have ran no rear springs with zero stock tire/wheel interference, ****ty ride.. YES!!) have proven that you can get the car low on stock wheels and tires and the only thing keeping them from going lower is the suspension itself not the stock wheels and tires.

A potential problem that has not been mentioned for a long time: over loading by carrying too much weight. So do not drive with five passengers and over 100lbs of luggage etc. As long as you keep that in mind you should be ok.

It was pretty early and that wasn't my greatest response.

Bottom line is aslong as you run wheels and tires that have the same/similar offset, width, and rolling diameter you WILL NOT have any issues with lowering springs or coils.

Here's a pic of Vento's Sonic running Eibach springs on RS struts with aftermarket 17's. He had some issue's with the "exploratory" install but the ride was fine (BTW the drop was the same as Eibachs with LS/LT/LTZ struts)
